    - Does having home care result in a loss of independence?
    No. Our belief is that independence is being in control of your decisions. Having in-home care services means being in control of your activities and retaining as much independence as each situation allows. Many of our clients just need a little help to continue living a safe and productive life while some might be recovering from a fall or surgery, or other condition. Regardless of your situation, our goal is to enable you the best possible outcome while being in control of your care and daily decisions. Caressa will also advise you when you are no longer suitable for home care.
    - How can I trust a compete stranger in my home?
    Just like nurses and doctors, Caressa’s Professional Care Staff have chosen a career in compassionate care for those in need. Caressa implements a proprietary Care Assure Screening System which includes a comprehensive background check and screening for compassion, identity, integrity, and competence. Less than 5% of all applicants meet our stringent screen and we rarely advertise for care staff as most come from word of mouth referrals from other happy clients.
    - How does Caressa attract the best care staff?
    Our Golden Rule states ‘We will not refer a care staff member into your home that we would not welcome into our own home.’ This high bar was set by our founders in 2004 and is the backbone of our mission. Similar to any working professional, care staff are attracted to organizations that have trust, compassion, stability, and hope. We encourage you to meet one of our local Directors or Care Managers as they will treat you with as much compassion and dignity as they afford to each care staff member they place.
    - What if we don’t like our care staff member?
    Contact us and we’ll place another caregiver within a reasonable time at no additional cost. Up to 4 staff changes will be allowed within a 6 month period.
    - Will we have a choice in selecting the care staff member?
    Our Care Pairing Process works with each family to understand what unique skills and personalities are desired in a care staff member. Feedback from satisfied clients usually indicates that a personality match is the #1 factor in a care staff member match, so we highly encourage client input. We will then make a placement based on our experience and your input, to the advantage of the patient.
    - What is the process of attaining a Caressa Care Staff Member?
    We make the process of attaining a care staff member very simple and prompt using our Quick Care Placement program. Give us a call and we’ll conduct a brief phone discussion to understand your needs. We then can meet up with anyone involved with the patient for a nursing assessment at your home or in the hospital for an in-home needs care plan. Within 24 hours of that assessment, we are usually able to place a professional care staff member in your home. Our team will also provide you with a contract and payment plan regarding your personal care plan that will commence once finalised.
    - Will my medical aid pay for home nursing?
    Yes! Most medical aids have a home nursing benefit that 93% of medical aid members are not aware of. We send our nursing assessment accompanied by a letter from the patient's acting physician, to apply for authorisation with your medical aid, and await authorisation for home nursing, within the rules of your medical aid scheme.
